Cracroft – contemporary urban living with a semi rural outlook
This was designed as a speculative house in a new hill-side subdivision. The intention was to provide an example of what could be achieved as a design response within the subdivision.
The brief was to provide easy living for a typical family and maximise the site’s wonderful outlook.
Designed for easy living
At 315sq metres in area including 3 car garaging, the house includes multiple open plan living areas on the ground floor and bedrooms on the first floor.
All living spaces and bedrooms experience wonderful rural views to the west. The master bedroom has its own covered deck looking to the hills while front bedrooms have a wide deck overlooking the rural pasture. An outdoor court to the north boundary attracts sun most of the day and is protected from the prevailing winds allowing alfresco dining at most times.
The kitchen provides the latest appliances with a chefs scullery.
The house exterior features extensive use of honed stack bonded concrete block as a cladding material. James Hardie Titan panel and black powder coated aluminium blades provide sun screening, shelter and coherence to an otherwise busy facade.
The accompanying photos show how well the owners have responded to the design of the house with the positioning and style of furniture and furnishings which are in keeping with what had been originally envisaged. The result is a home that is a treat to visit and experience.
The landscape has been expertly handled by Goom Landscapes Ltd.
