Canterbury Lifestyle – Solid, distinguished and timeless in a village setting
The Owners of this property purchased two adjoining sections with stand-out northerly views to the golf course in the foreground and mountains in the back.
The brief was to design an attractive solid masonry family home that met the subdivision design covenants in respect to roof pitch, palette and detailing.
It was also to receive all day sun and make the most of the views and entertainment possibilities for their extended family and friends.
Family life and entertaining
The design needed to provide a floor plan that was equally suitable for immediate family or for guests and visitors.
It was also to provide suitable access to the outdoor areas including the BBQ and green spaces and also the pool house.
The long northern site frontage proved ideal in allowing the living spaces, guest bedroom and pool house to look to the views.
They also connect well to the outdoor areas that landscape architects Kamo Marsh developed while working closely with the client.
Louvers at both levels have been used for privacy and shelter.
Bedrooms at the upper level also take in the views.
Kamo Marsh have used different surface treatments and a water feature in this complementary landscape.
Shelter from the easterly is provided by an sheltered courtyard.
The landscape extends to the northern boundary and makes a seamless transition to the golf course.
